So, why did this young woman decide to start taking off her dress in the middle of Piccadilly Circus?
After she stripped down, Jae West blindfolded herself, raised her arms, and put a sign against her legs. Don’t worry about her safety, West had two friends there, who were filming the entire thing…
Not long after, a large crowd started to gather. They starred at the young women, as well as her sign. But, what was written on the sign?
“With the growing prevalence of eating disorders and self-esteem issues around the world, this public act of self-acceptance aims to get people to question the true relationship that they have to themselves and body image,” Jae explained later on.
This girl was one of the first people to draw a heart on Jae and offer her support. Not long after, others started stepping up and doing the same.
The police showed up soon enough. The young woman’s performance was completely legal, but they wanted to stick around until the end in order to make sure she’s safe. After she dressed up again, the police officer also wanted to offer his support.
“Just the thought of looking down at my body and seeing it covered in love hearts from other people brought tears to my eyes,” West recalls.
